Horrific Murder and Suspected Sexual Assault of Minor Girl Shakes Wardha; One Arrested
A horrific crime has shocked Wardha, Maharashtra, where a 12-year-old girl was found murdered in her home. Authorities suspect sexual assault before she was bludgeoned with a stone. Police have arrested farm laborer Rahul Raju Madavi and formed a Special Investigation Team. Local residents have staged protests demanding the death penalty and a fast-track trial as tensions remain high.
The case was officially registered following a formal complaint filed by the mother of the deceased. The First Information Report names unknown individuals and includes charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder, rape, sexual violence, and criminal house trespass. Furthermore, relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act have been invoked to ensure the most stringent legal action. While three individuals were initially detained for interrogation to assist with the probe, the police have formally arrested 30-year-old Rahul Raju Madavi. The accused worked as a farm laborer on the land immediately adjacent to the residence of the victim.
To ensure a rigorous and swift investigation, fourteen special police teams have been constituted, and a Special Investigation Team has been officially tasked with handling the case. Pankaj Bhoyer, the Minister of State for Home (Rural) for Maharashtra, condemned the murder in the strongest terms, describing the incident as highly reprehensible. He noted that the police acted with immediate urgency in registering the case and emphasized that dedicated efforts are underway to ensure the culprits receive the harshest possible punishment under the law.
The atmosphere turned volatile as the body was being handed over to the family following the completion of the post-mortem examination. Relatives and local residents staged a massive protest outside the hospital, with large crowds trailing the ambulance, creating a high-tension environment. Protesters also blocked roads for a period of time, demanding the death penalty for the accused and a fast-track trial for the case. Heavy police deployment remains in effect within the village to maintain order and prevent further unrest. While one suspect is currently in custody, no further arrests have been reported as the Special Investigation Team continues its pursuit of justice for the minor victim. This heinous crime has sparked widespread outrage, highlighting grave concerns regarding the safety of children and the necessity for swift judicial intervention.
